Chief Security Officer

Dr. Eric J. Reyes serves as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) for Koniag Government Services (KGS). He oversees all corporate security functions, including cyber, physical, and industrial security. Under Eric’s leadership, KGS is on track to achieve the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2, an essential milestone for meeting the evolving mission requirements of the Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal clients. As CSO, Eric is committed to driving transformative innovation by improving enterprise security risk management, utilizing artificial intelligence solutions, and fostering a resilient security culture to ensure that KGS remains ahead of emerging threats while complying with federal mandates.  

Eric joined KGS in 2020 as the Director of Industrial Security and Corporate Facility Security Officer. He quickly made his mark by establishing a robust security framework that aligned with KGS’s strategic mission and bolstered its national security presence. In 2023, he was elevated to Senior Vice President of Corporate Security and recognized by the WashingtonExec as a top CISO to watch before being elevated to his current role as CSO. 

Eric’s contributions have been pivotal to KGS’s exponential growth. He successfully implemented security solutions across all business operations, leading to impactful initiatives in developing robust policies and standard operating procedures, automating essential services, and significantly enhancing operational efficiency. Furthermore, he aligned cross-functional security technologies and practices, elevated facility and physical security standards, and launched enterprise-wide security training programs.  

Eric began his federal career in 2002 as a special agent with the Defense Security Service, where he conducted personnel security investigations. He later served as an Industrial Security Representative, overseeing security programs for over 100 cleared contractor facilities. 

In 2006, Eric joined the FBI’s Security Division, working as a Senior Industrial Security Specialist. In this role, he managed security for 300 contracts, including the Director’s Sentinel program, the FBI’s first digital case management system. Eric eventually advanced to CSO at FBI Headquarters, where he supported the FBI’s most advanced technologies for national security and criminal investigations worldwide.  

In 2009, Eric became an FBI Special Agent, working out of the Richmond Division. There, he joined the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force and Violent Crime Squad, investigating violent gangs, drug trafficking, bank robberies, kidnappings, and human trafficking. He was recognized for exemplary work on a drug trafficking investigation and received the Public Service Award from the U.S. Attorney’s Office. 

Eric later transferred to the FBI San Juan Division, where he was a member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, investigating international and domestic terrorism cases across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Eric was then assigned to the Charlotte Division, where he investigated both national security and criminal violations, including cybercrime, public corruption, and white-collar offenses. He also served as a Supervisory Special Agent at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., managing insider threat investigations. 

Eric holds a Ph.D. from Bellevue University and M.S. and B.S. degrees from East Carolina University, where he was a full-scholarship football player. He also completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program at the Harvard Kennedy School and obtained professional certifications from Duke and Stanford, including Six Sigma certification.
