Life at KGS

Our Culture

People at the Center

During my employment, I have been given many opportunities to grow and learn, not only from the numerous engagement and training opportunities but by watching our leadership and embracing our employee-centric culture. We don’t follow a cookie cutter approach but look to bring the best out of our employees, capitalizing on our strengths by working together as a thoughtful team. I say you get out of it what you put into it, and there isn’t a lack of opportunity at a company growing as fast as ours with a commitment to operational excellence and quality.

Senior Vice President

A unique benefit of working for Koniag has been the sense of contributing to society. I’ve had the honor of working on meaningful and impactful projects with the Defense Health Agency, the Food and Drug Administration, the Navy, and Health & Human Services. In addition to the work, is the fact that the company itself supports the Native Alaskans…that our profits go to building a stronger community for the Alutiiq people on Kodiak Island. My job has meaning and value.

Program Manager

I started KGS as a Senior Manager almost 5 years ago. I immediately felt something different…the “sharing the catch” community viewpoint and surrounded by authentic leadership. I wanted to be a part of it – with support from leadership, I worked hard to understand the business we’re in, sharpening my leadership and consulting skills and focused on learning the aspects of the business around me – which I hadn’t been exposed to before. With hard work and a little bit of luck, I helped work to grow the FedCiv space with significant captures at DOE, USDA, HHS and HUD and have operational oversight for most of that work today. I’m doing my best to promote the KGS culture and afford my staff the same opportunities. Today I am a Sr VP with the IS OG.

Senior Vice President

My career has grown at Koniag. Originally hired to be an individual contributor as a consultant, I was quickly moved into a Team Lead role. From there I was promoted to Program Manager, and now a Project Director overseeing two major contracts. All of this happening within 3 years. But what is great about this advancement is that I can still contribute as a consultant, helping with the areas I am passionate about.

Program Manager

KGS has a diverse staff who possess a combination of functional and technical skills and many soft skills including effective teamwork, problem solving, communication, adaptability, and critical thinking. There is never a shortage of help when you need the support, the team rallies.
